Tate high on Gators

by

Auden Tate attended Florida’s spring game Saturday to check out the school and Kurt Roper’s new offense. The Tampa Wharton receiver came away impressed with both. “I liked it,” he said of the Orange & Blue Debut. “It was a nice atmosphere. I liked the fans. I liked the game. They threw the ball around a lot, more than I expected. So it was real nice.” UF cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III, who’s from the same high school as Tate, has been recruiting him to Gainesville. “He … Read More »

McCloud taking his time

by

Tampa Sickles athlete Ray-Ray McCloud III visited Florida over the weekend for the third time this spring. When a recruit makes that many trips to one school on his own dime, it’s usually a sign that a commitment could be coming. But pulling the trigger didn’t cross McCloud’s mind Saturday at the Orange & Blue Debut. “No it didn’t,” he said. “I want to take my time with it and look at all schools. I want to take more visits and not just … Read More »

Pine athlete liked what he saw enough to return this weekend for the Orange & Blue Debut. “I enjoyed it,” he said of the game. “I saw them throw the ball a good little bit. They did the same thing in practice. I like how use the slot receivers. That’s the position they’re recruiting me for.” Dillon’s primary recruiter from UF is tight ends coach … Read More »

Jacksonville Trinity Christian linebacker Jeff Holland was back at UF on Saturday to attend the Orange & Blue Debut. With his father, brother and cousins in tow, the Under Armour All-American and consensus top-100 prospect paid close attention to Antonio Morrison and Florida’s defense. “It looked very good,” he said of the unit. “I was looking at Morrison. Florida’s OL board without Fruhmorgen

by

The Gators have one less option at offensive tackle in the class of 2015. Tampa Plant’s Jake Fruhmoregn, a Rivals100 member and one of Florida’s top targets, committed to Clemson on Thursday. With his pledge to the Tigers, which had been expected for weeks, Apopka’s Martez Ivey becomes even more of a priority for UF. Ivey, who is ranked the No. 1 overall prospect by Scout, has been to Gainesville several times with teammate Chandler Cox and appears to be favoring the Gators … Read More »

Florida fits Smith’s criteria

by

When Rivals100 linebacker Roquan Smith visited Florida in late January, he didn’t know what to expect. It was the first trip to Gainesville for the Montezuma (Ga.) Macon County prospect, and he was just trying to take it all in. Smith returned to UF this past Saturday and walked away with a much better feel for the school and football program. “I really got a lot out of this visit,” he said. “Just being able to watch them practice and chill with coach (D.J.) … Read More »
