Burnett commits to Gators

Last weekend’s comeback win over Tennessee generated tons of recruiting buzz and momentum for Florida football. Saturday’s rout of No. 3 Ole Miss produced a commitment for the Gators. Pahokee athlete McArthur Burnett pledge to UF following its 38-10 win over the Rebels. He chose Florida over Florida State and Miami, the school he was formerly committed to, among others. Burnett camped at UF on June 8 and decommitted from the Hurricanes two days later. He then returned to Gainesville… Read More »

Top UF targets returning for Ole Miss game

Some of Florida’s top recruiting targets will be back in The Swamp this weekend. Highlighting Saturday’s visitors list is five-star wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers. This is his third trip to UF in a month after attending the New Mexico State and Tennessee games. Top-100 defensive end Antonneous Clayton, four-star wide receiver Freddie Swain and coveted in-state offensive tackle Marcus Tatum are also returning from last weekend. Another four-star wideout, Tre Nixon, will be at the Ole Miss game as well… Read More »

Zach’s Mail Stack 10/1

I’ve spoken on a few radio shows this week and listened to others, and the excitement I’ve felt from fans has been awesome. Gator Nation was numb for days after the win over Tennessee, and some of you might still be. That was an incredible game and atmosphere we witnessed last Saturday in The Swamp. And I can tell you the recruits who were there enjoyed it just as much as you all. I talked to a handful of them… Read More »

UF leads for five-star linebacker

Florida could pull yet another top prospect from the state of Alabama. Five-star linebacker Lyndell “Mack” Wilson named UF his No. 1 school Wednesday, announcing his leaders on Twitter. Wilson, a consensus top-50 overall recruit and Under Armour All-American, is ranked the nation’s No. 1 outside linebacker by ESPN and 247Sports. He’s also No. 9 in the Rivals100. The 6-foot-2, 236-pounder visited Gainesville on Aug. 1 with six other prospects from Montgomery, Alabama. One of them, safety Jeawon Taylor, has… Read More »

Commit of the week: RB Lamical Perine

Lamical Perine might be on his way to four-star status. The consensus three-star running back from Theodore (Ala.) has been on a tear this month. Perine finished with a combined 356 yards and three touchdowns Friday in his team’s 35-28 win over Montgomery (Ala.) Park Crossing. The majority of those yards came on the ground, as Perine went for 292 — his third consecutive game with more than 200 yards rushing. He has 757 total yards during that stretch and 1,065… Read More »

Gardner, Perine liking UF’s play at their positions

Chauncey Gardner and Lamical Perine were two of 12 Florida commits in attendance for the Tennessee game this past weekend. Both liked seeing the Gators show the ability to come back from a two-score deficit, and the crowd reaction to it. “It was exciting,” Gardner said. “The atmosphere was awesome, players did great. They stepped up in the fourth quarter and this game lived up to the hype.” Said Perine: “I enjoyed myself. The Swamp was crazy, and I liked… Read More »

McElwain: Gators generating buzz in recruiting

Florida won more than just a game Saturday. It was a huge recruiting weekend for the Gators, with over 20 Rivals250 members for 2016 and 2017 in The Swamp. UF coach Jim McElwain said he and his staff got great feedback from the visitors who were in attendance for the 28-27 win over Tennessee. “Well, I’ll tell you what, the buzz and the amount of guys that were just here (was big),” McElwain said. “The environment there again, I credit… Read More »

Craig-Myers loves atmosphere in The Swamp

Nate Craig-Myers, the nation’s No. 1 wide receiver, has visited several college campuses. He’s also been to games at Auburn, Florida State, North Carolina and UCF. But through his recruitment thus far, the atmosphere at Florida is his favorite. “Definitely at the top of the list. Seeing the all blue, can’t get no better than that,” said Craig-Myers, who visited UF for the Tennessee game. “It was a great atmosphere tonight seeing the Gators come out and put on a… Read More »

Clayton ‘speechless’ after UF win, but names Gators his leader

Florida’s comeback victory over Tennessee undoubtedly had a huge impact on recruits, perhaps none more than Antonneous Clayton. The consensus four-star defensive end and Rivals100 member from Vienna (Ga.) Dooly County was one of several top prospects in attendance. “I loved it,” Clayton said of his trip. “I mean, I’m speechless right now.” But Clayton did have one thing to say — UF is now his No. 1 school. “Florida is my top leader right now,” he said. “I can really… Read More »

Manuel has blast at UF

Shavar Manuel visited Florida this weekend for the second time in as many months. The five-star defensive tackle from Bradenton IMG Academy attended Friday Night Lights in late July and named the Gators one of his top teams. He returned to The Swamp on Saturday for his first UF game, which didn’t disappoint. “I enjoyed myself from the time I got here until now leaving,” Manuel said. “I had a blast tonight, I really did. It was crazy from top to… Read More »
