Florida’s coaches on the road in Georgia, Alabama, Texas

Florida head coach Jim McElwain, assistant head coach Randy Shannon and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier are on the recruiting trail in South Florida. The trio of Gators coaches will see offensive tackle Navaughn Donaldson, a Miami commit who’s also receiving significant interest from Florida and FSU. The Gators are in the running to land the top-ranked defensive recruit in the 2018 class. Xavier Thomas (Wilson High, S.C.) included Florida in his Top-7 schools. Florida staff visiting five-star 2018 QB Trevor Lawrence

The coaches are back on the road Dec. 5, and coach Jim McElwain is making an effort to flip one of the biggest recruits in the state of Florida. McElwain and offensive line coach Mike Summers are in Pensacola seeing five-star offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood. The Alabama commit will reportedly take an official visit to Florida on Dec. 10. Florida is back on the road recruiting following Saturday’s 54-16 loss to Alabama in the SEC Championship game. Gators coach Jim McElwain and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier are visiting former Baylor quarterback Jarrett Stidham. The former five-star left Waco after Art Briles was let go as head coach. Gators lose 3-star DL Javier Edwards

The Gators lost their second defensive tackle commit within the last week Sunday when Javier Edwards chose to decommit from the 2017 class. The three-star defensive lineman out of Blinn College (Tx.) took an official visit to Arkansas on Saturday. Florida’s 2017 class lost the state’s No. 5 defensive tackle Tuesday. Saturday’s homecoming game against Missouri marks Florida’s first game in The Swamp in nearly a month. Florida’s biggest home game of the season was postponed due to Hurricane Matthew, and the game has yet to be re-scheduled. Along with an important SEC match-up, Florida’s staff missed a critical opportunity to host recruits on campus.
