Florida appears to be climbing the ladder for five-star linebacker Raekwon McMillan (Hinesville, Ga./Liberty County).
He made a surprise trip to Gainesville on Saturday and spoke to head coach Will Muschamp and defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin about their vision for him in UF’s defense.

Defensive end Lorenzo Featherston made a visit to Florida on Friday with a pair of his coaches from Greensboro (N.C.) Page.
Though not very talkative, the ESPN150 member still gave positive comments regarding his trip.
“It’s a new experience. It’s different,” he said. “The campus is great. The coaching staff is great. Everything is great.”
The 6-foot-7, 215-pounder was at Florida State the day before and didn’t have anything to say about it. His previous visit was to Tennessee, and the Gators topped that trip as well.

Add another target to Florida’s board at the Buck position.
Clearwater Central Catholic defensive end Justus Reed camped at UF on Thursday and earned an offered from the coaches afterward.

For his 17th birthday, Derby (Kan.) tight end DeAndre Goolsby wanted to spend a week in Florida at the beach.
On Thursday, he took a break from his vacation in St. Petersburg to visit UF with his mother.
“I was excited,” Goolsby said of the trip. “I got to see a lot of stuff. It was interesting. … It helped a lot getting to see what they have out here and what they’re able to do.”

Brooklyn (N.Y.) Abraham Lincoln defensive tackle Thomas Holley was offered by Florida in Febuary and evaluated by the Gators during the evaluation period.
The Rivals100 member returned the favor Thursday when he visited UF for the first time.
“It was a beautiful campus,” he said. “I talked to everyone from the coaches to the academic advisors and nutritionists. It was very informative, very intriguing and very thorough. I learned more about Florida with every person I met.”

In-state offensive tackle David Sharpe visited Florida on Wednesday for the fourth time since mid-March.
The purpose of his trip was to meet with UF’s head coach, but not the one in the football offices.
“I talked to Billy Donovan for the first time,” he said.
The 6-foot-6, 288-pounder is a two-sport athlete at Jacksonville Providence and wants to continue his basketball career in college. Finding a school that will allow him to do so is one of the determining factors in his recruitment.

Da’Shawn Hand, the nation’s consensus No. 1 defensive end, shocked the recruiting world Wednesday.
The Woodbridge (Va.) five-star recruit named Alabama, Florida and Michigan as his Top 3 and eliminated South Carolina and Virgina Tech, which was thought to be leading for his services.
But since the school doesn’t offer a degree in sports management, Hand’s desired major, he dropped the Hokies from consideration. The 6-foot-4, 248-pounder said he didn’t connect with the professor in the undergraduate program at South Carolina.

A few in-state wideouts stood out at Florida’s first mini camp and session of the summer.
The best of the bunch was Orlando Lake Nona’s Ryan Sousa, who traveled to UF on Tuesday for a workout with receivers coach Joker Phillips.

Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb quarterback Tyler Queen is quickly making a name for himself in the class of 2015.
This past week, the 6-foot-2, 228-pound prospect camped at Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida and Miami and earned an offer at every one of those stops except UF.

Brock Ruble was by far the biggest body on Florida’s practice field Tuesday.
