Quan Bray’s recruitment might not be over just yet.
While the Lagrange, Ga., Troup athlete committed to Auburn during the Under Armour All-America Game on Jan. 5, Bray said he still plans to finish taking all of his visits. Bray has visited Auburn and Georgia, but isn’t sure where else he’ll go.
One school he is interested in seeing is Florida, which he listed as one of his finalists when he committed.
“Florida stands at the top,” Bray said of potential visit destinations. “I’ve been liking Florida ever since they started recruiting me.”
Primarily recruited by former defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, Bray said Austin’s absence won’t hurt Florida’s chances because he’s a fan of new coach Will Muschamp. Bray said he has a couple of family members who played with Muschamp in college and he’s already spoken to Muschamp a couple of times since he was hired.
Bray said Florida is recruiting him as a running back/wide receiver hybrid and while he could play defense, he prefers getting the ball in his hands.
“I can play defense, but really, I feel comfortable moving here and there,” he said. “Sitting in one spot, it’s easy for a defense to stop you.”
Bray said he’s considering visiting Alabama and LSU as well.
Though nothing might change his mind about Auburn, Bray said he would at least like to see what other schools have to offer. Even with Florida making the transition to a new coach, he’s still excited to see what Florida could offer him.
“Florida is still going to be Florida,” he said. “Muschamp coming in, he’s going to do his thing and Florida’s still going to have good coaches.
“If they let me come, I’ll come. If they don’t, I’ll just switch up another visit.”
Rivals.com ranks Bray as the No. 16 athlete in the country.
