The local talent around Florida hasn’t really gotten a ton of attention from the hometown school over the past few years, but it appears that could change with Will Muschamp in town.
One player starting to get more interest from Florida’s new staff is Gainesville cornerback Chris Bivins. The 6-foot, 170-pound prospect was one of the top corners at the Under Armour Junior Combine in January and is starting to get his name out there more and more in the recruiting world.
Florida, Tennessee, Florida State, Arkansas, Miami, South Florida and Rutgers have been showing interest.
Bivins visited UF for Junior Day on Saturday and said he spent most of his time with defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson and defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. Things are starting to heat up between the two parties, but the next step is for him to impress the coaches enough to see how far this relationship goes.
“They haven’t offered yet, but I think they’re getting close,” Bivins said. “When I talked to the DB coach he said he really liked my film and is looking forward to evaluating me and invited me to camp for the upcoming summer.
“I love all the attention, but I know I still have to work hard and be — and do — the best I can, no matter how many colleges are interested. This is the time where I have to stay humble and not get the big head.”
