Florida offers DE Bryan Cox Jr.

by

The Florida Gators have offered 2012 defensive end Bryan Cox Jr. out of St. Thomas Aquinas in Ft. Lauderdale.

Cox is the son of former NFL linebacker Bryan Cox Sr., who spent 12 seasons in the league.

The family has a close relationship with UF defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, which will only grow now that he has extended an offer to Cox following his workout at Friday Night Lights.

“Coach Quinn just called me over afterward and let me know that I had an offer,” Cox said.

With Florida joining the race, Cox now has a total of 16 offers with no favorites at this time. However, he said the Gators will make his top five.

“They definitely will be up there at the end,” Cox said. “It’s just an all-around great school. They have high graduation rates and obviously the football is phenomenal with their championship wins.”

Friday was Cox’s second visit to Gainesville and he plans on returning before making his commitment.

“It’s a beautiful campus all around with everything, I really like it,” said Cox, who has also been impressed with Miami and North Carolina during his recruitment.

Can someone find out the results of the other players that were at the camp. Each player had a card with their height, weight, vertical and long jump. I would like to know where that info goes and can I view as a parent how my son measured up. Plus his performance in the drills and 1 on 1. Thank you

    Peter,

I can only get that sort of information by asking prospects during interviews. UF doesn’t provide the media with the measurables they collect at FNL. I wish they did, though.

Cox would come from a great HS program (#1 in nation) with strong academics. Just look at Marcus Gilbert, Major Wright, Cody Riggs, and new center Dan Wenger. Glad to see tha Gators recruiting the south Florida area harder these days. It’s been mostly UM and FSU territory for a long time.

STA has not been like most of the South Florida schools. They have tended to send more kids toward OSU and ND. I don’t recall Miami in it for many or any of their keds for quite some time. FSU has gotten a few just like UF.
