The Florida Gators have offered 2012 defensive end Bryan Cox Jr. out of St. Thomas Aquinas in Ft. Lauderdale.
Cox is the son of former NFL linebacker Bryan Cox Sr., who spent 12 seasons in the league.
The family has a close relationship with UF defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, which will only grow now that he has extended an offer to Cox following his workout at Friday Night Lights.
“Coach Quinn just called me over afterward and let me know that I had an offer,” Cox said.
With Florida joining the race, Cox now has a total of 16 offers with no favorites at this time. However, he said the Gators will make his top five.
“They definitely will be up there at the end,” Cox said. “It’s just an all-around great school. They have high graduation rates and obviously the football is phenomenal with their championship wins.”
Friday was Cox’s second visit to Gainesville and he plans on returning before making his commitment.
“It’s a beautiful campus all around with everything, I really like it,” said Cox, who has also been impressed with Miami and North Carolina during his recruitment.
