UPDATE: Dawson committed to Florida.

Four-star 2014 cornerback Duke Dawson (Cross City, Fla./Dixie County) will announce his college choice Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. during a cermony in his school auditorium.

He will choose between Florida and Florida State, which were the first two schools to offer him back in the summer.

“I’m excited about it,” Dawson said of his decision. “It’s definitley a big moment for me. All the work I put in got me here. I’m ready to get the recruiting process over with so I can just focus on school and football.”

The Gators have been Dawson’s leader for months and are still the favorite heading into Tuesday. If he commits to Florida as expected, UF coach Will Muschamp is landing one of the top corners in the state.

Dawson competed in the Under Armour Armour Underclassmen Combine on Friday and put on an impressive performance against some of the nation’s top wideouts. He checked in at 5-foot-11, 188 pounds and dominated most of his matchups with his physical play.

Ryeshene Bronson, a Ft. Myers Dunbar receiver committed to the Gators for next year, called Dawson the best 2014 cornerback he has seen thus far.

“Duke is the real deal,” Bronson said. “He presses you at the line of scrimmage and makes it hard to get open. Getting him would be big for Florida.”
