Trio of in-state prospects take in UF scrimmage

by

There were three intriguing recruits at UF over the weekend.

Offensive tackle David Sharpe (Jacksonville Providence), receiver Moral Stephens (Perry Taylor County) and running back Cortavious Givens (Saint Petersburg Admiral Farragut Academy) were in Gainesville on Saturday for Florida’s first scrimmage of the spring.

Getting Sharpe on campus was a big deal for the Gators, who are considered one of his early favorites along with Alabama and Florida State. His recruitment has blown up this month and he’s now rated the nation’s No. 8 overall prospect on 247Sports. The 6-foot-6, 288-pounder won’t be making a decision anytime soon, but having him visit this spring was a priority for UF.

Stephens and Givens have yet to be offered, but both are very high on the Gators. Florida will likely evaluate them this spring and have them camp in the summer. It will be interesting to see if the UF coaches recruit them to play other positions. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound Stephens has the frame to grow into a tight end, while Givens has fullback written all over him at 5-foot-10, 222 pounds.

The three in-state prospects did not respond to calls and text messages from The Sun, but here’s what they had to say about their visits on Twitter.
