UF’s two Rivals100 commits drop in new rankings

by

Rivals.com released its updated Rivals100 on Monday and Florida’s two commits slightly dropped in the rankings.

At No. 24 overall, Miami Central running back Dalvin Cook is now the highest-rated recruit by Rivals for the Gators. He’s down two spots from his previous rank and was passed by Oakley (Calif.) Freedom running back Joe Mixon, who jumped from 82nd overall to 15 and earned his fifth star.

UF quarterback pledge Will Grier of Davidson (N.C.) Day dropped 11 spots to No. 29, which is a bit of a head-scratcher. He had a strong showing at the Charlotte camp in April and some analysts suggested he might become a five-star prospect. Moreover, pro-style quarterback Kyle Allen is now ranked ahead of Grier despite finishing behind him in the QB rankings from the Rivals Camp Series.

Columbia (S.C.) Spring Valley linebacker Christian Miller, who decommitted from Florida on Friday, fell out of the Rivals100 after being No. 91 overall in the initial rankings.

The Rivals250 comes out Tuesday followed by unranked four-stars on Wednesday and positional rankings Thursday.

Here’s a list of UF targets in the Rivals100:

No. 1 — DE De’Shawn Hand
No. 5 — DE Lorenzo Carter
No. 7 — DT Andrew Brown
No. 9 — CB Adoree’ Jackson

How is that OT Sharpe from Jacksonville is #12 on espn but can’t crack top 100 on rivals?

This doesn’t look great for us. I hate being behind FSU in the rankings, no matter how early.

Oh, and I’m stupid and I have man titties like a real ‘Bama fan should.

How is it that I read all these articles about gators like Duke Dawson and Will G winning most valuable players at their position at these high profile camps only to get jumped and over looked….smh…. ridiculous..

Something funny, I’ve actually started to care less about rankings these days because they hardly ever tell the whole story of a player. I just trust champ and the staff to get the player they feel are best suited for the team, which may not always be that highly coveted player, but at times a more under-the-radar sort of player

I wouldn’t think anything of it. They haven’t even played a down of their senior season yet. Most have just played their Spring game….to move kids around on their boards is just food for the recruitniks to chew on.

Never compare ESPN to Rivals….they’re both biased towards certain areas.

Really hoping for Good things to happen in the coming weeks. Can’t take much more of this negative atmosphere and decommitments.

That’s why I cancelled my membership, with Rivals! They do things that make little to no sense! Muschamp and company will get the talent.

Rankings are for people who need to take up a new hobby. Think about all the walkons ,Kerwin, and 2 stars, Shane, etc,etc.etc.

Rivals needs to stir up things to keep subscribers talking. Of course kids don’t improve from 3 star to 5 star on spring performances, but Rivals has to do something to get attention. Don’t in the least be concerned if a kid Fl wants drops in rankings. Think about this for a moment—who knows the most about football talent, the best coach in college football or some geek trying to make a career at Rivals! Will knows what the Gators need and those are the players he’s after. GO GATORS!!!

It goes to show you how much guessing goes into these rankings. It is NOT exact science. I want to beat FSU in November! That’s what counts. Personally, I am enjoying not having our players arrested every week.

Remember, Rivals was not high on guys like Luchiez Purifoy, Matt Jones and Trey Burton.

Watch Grier on film. It looks like he’s playing a bunch of small private schools. It’s troublesome. The speed and size of the SEC will be a gigantic jump for him.
