Five-star recruit George Campbell is back on the market in the 2015 recruiting cycle.
The Tarpon Springs East Lake receiver made an early pledge to Michigan in the summer but decommitted last month.
“I talked to my family about it,” he said, “and we just felt like opening my recruitment back up was the best thing for me. It wasn’t about coach Brady Hoke or the season they had. I have no harsh feelings toward Michigan.”
The 6-foot-3, 183-pound Campbell has put recruiting on the back burner now that he’s undecided. His focus is on football and winning a state championship as a senior.
“It’s not a big process right now,” he said. “I’m trying to keep it at a slow pace, take my time and evaluate all my opinions. Everyone is getting looked at by me.
“But recruiting is not even on my mind right now. I’m trying to get a ring for my team.”
Florida was one of Campbell’s top schools before his commitment to Michigan, and he still thinks highly of the Gators.
“It’s a great school and a nice program, and they develop their players,” he said. “The season they had didn’t bother me at all. I’m not there, and I feel like I could help change the program.”
Campbell, who is ranked in the Top 10 nationally by ESPN and Rivals, likes new UF offensive coordinator Kurt Roper.
“I watched him the other night in Duke’s bowl game,” he said. “He’s a good coach, and I really hope he gets their offense going.”
