The inevitable has happened.

Homestead receiver Ermon Lane announced his decommitment from Florida on Friday via Twitter, a move that had been anticipated for more than a month.

Lane claims he didn’t back off his pledge because of close friend Dalvin Cook, who flipped to Florida State on New Year’s Eve.

But once Cook was gone and Lane scheduled an official visit to FSU the last weekend before signing day, it was only a matter of time until he parted ways with UF.

The Gators have a several options remaining at the receiver position.

Their top target is junior college prospect Eric Lauderdale. He currently has Florida in front and will make his decision after trips to Arionza State and Oregon.

UF is also in the running for receivers Myles Autry, Isaiah Ford, Isaiah McKenzie, Charles Nelson and FSU commit C.J. Worton, all of whom plan to officially visit this month.
