Florida hosted offensive guard Javon Patterson for a visit Wednesday.

It was his first-ever trip to UF, and the consensus top-100 prospect liked what he saw in Gainesville.

“I had a great time,” Patterson said. “Just being able to see the campus and meet the coaches face-to-face. I felt comfortable here.”

The 6-foot-4, 295-pounder from Petal (Miss.) walked away from his visit with high regard for Gators offensive line coach Mike Summers.

“He knows the game and does a good job teaching the position,” Patterson said. “I’m glad I got a chance to watch him with the players at camp and get a feel for how he coaches. I liked it.”

“And he just told that I would be a perfect fit on their offensive line, and I know they’re losing a few guys next year.”

Patterson plans to make his decison in November, and his top 5 schools are Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Mississippi and Mississippi State.

“This trip helped out Florida’s chances,” he said. “I’ll definitely be back for an official visit.”

I agree with Don, if Bama offers him (along with 30-35 other players they will sign) he will go to Bama. Hope he doesn’t suddenly suffer a mysterious injury after a year or two and give up his scholly for a medical hardship.

It’ll be hard to get him outta the state of Miss. I don’t see him signing with Ala. ’cause of their depth, sounds to me he wants to play…

Alabama does a great job recruiting, but even they do not get every recruit they want. We will see what happens, but you never know. It seems like every offensive line recruit is impressed with Summers. I look forward to seeing how much the offensive line has improved this year.

@ Gator863, I’m with you, it seems that everyone is impressed with Summers. It will be very interesting thing t see what “Magic” he has performed with the O-line and their scheme. I also know that BAMA can not and does not get EVERY player they recruit because of the depth chart, some of these kids want to play before their senior year or their RED Shirt senior year. stock piling as in BAMA’s case can limit you sometimes. GO GATORS!!!!

Dom-de-dom-dom,,, go do a little recruiting research and you’ll find several Gator players that were also recruited by UA-AU-LSU-UGA-Tn on the current Gator roster. The different reasons for any recruit signing with any particular team is a very long and varied list. Claiming to ‘know’ where any recruit is going to sign on NSD is STUPID imoho. And that’s just my own general opinion, not an accusation… ;~)
