Florida hosted offensive guard Javon Patterson for a visit Wednesday.
It was his first-ever trip to UF, and the consensus top-100 prospect liked what he saw in Gainesville.
“I had a great time,” Patterson said. “Just being able to see the campus and meet the coaches face-to-face. I felt comfortable here.”
The 6-foot-4, 295-pounder from Petal (Miss.) walked away from his visit with high regard for Gators offensive line coach Mike Summers.
“He knows the game and does a good job teaching the position,” Patterson said. “I’m glad I got a chance to watch him with the players at camp and get a feel for how he coaches. I liked it.”
“And he just told that I would be a perfect fit on their offensive line, and I know they’re losing a few guys next year.”
Patterson plans to make his decison in November, and his top 5 schools are Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Mississippi and Mississippi State.
“This trip helped out Florida’s chances,” he said. “I’ll definitely be back for an official visit.”
