Florida’s 2018 class and coach Jim McElwain landed a verbal commitment Monday from a junior college prospect who previously committed to the Gators in high school. After spending the weekend watching UF’s mini camp, Deontai Williams, a 6-foot, 178-pound safety by way of Jones County J.C. in Ellisville, Mississippi, announced on his Twitter account his verbal commitment to the Gators. Amari Burney had the date circled on his calendar for months. Gators offer scholarships to trio of 2019 OL prospects from Buford (Ga.)

Florida’s coaching staff is spending the week recruiting and evaluating prospects throughout the Peach State. Tuesday’s itinerary called for a stop in Buford, where the Gators offered three offensive lineman in the 2019 class. Carter Colquitt, a 6-foot-6, 295-pounder, picked up an offer from the Gators on Tuesday morning.
