Gardner solid, but will take visits

by

Chauncey Gardner, Florida’s top verbal commitment, liked what he saw from the Gators in last weekend’s spring game. The Rivals100 cornerback from Cocoa even thinks UF will have a turnaround season in 2015. “It’s only the spring,” he said, “but it’s awesome to see the atmosphere and the team is way better than last year. They are going to do some damage this year.” Gardner watched Florida’s corners closely during the Orange & Blue Debut. “They did their thing,” he said. “It’s hard to … Read More »

Florida unveiled a new passing offense in Saturday’s spring game, and it caught the eye of one of the nation’s top wide receivers. Consensus four-star recruit Sam Bruce attended the Orange & Blue Debut with his former high school teammate and UF running back signee, Jordan Scarlett. “It was a good game,” said Bruce, who is ranked a top-50 overall recruit by Rivals and ESPN. “They definitely spread the ball around a lot more than I thought.” Quarterbacks Will Grier and Treon Harris … Read More »

Imatorbhebhe comfortable in Gainesville

by

Wide receiver Josh Imatorbhebhe made yet another visit to Gainesville this weekend for the Orange & Blue Debut. The four-star prospect from Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett has grown comfortable at Florida over the past few months. “The level of comfortability I have with this place is huge,” he said. “I’m not a stranger here. This is my fifth or sixth time on this campus with this new staff, so I know a lot about them. That’s the best thing about Florida.” The 6-foot-2, … Read More »

NFL opportunity still present at Florida

by

Recruits consider several factors when deciding on a college, and an NFL opportunity usually ranks high in the pecking order. By the looks of Florida’s pro day Wednesday, UF didn’t feel like a school that had gone 11-13 the past two seasons and fired its head coach. All 32 teams were in attendance to watch 22 former Gators work out. “This is what you hope each year,” Florida coach Jim McElwain said. “You hope you have the depth and the quality. As you … Read More »

Spring practice helping McElwain, UF in recruiting

by

With the exception of Monday, Florida coach Jim McElwain has enjoyed seeing his football team compete this spring. Of course, he’s not the only one. Recruits have flocked to UF this month for practices, and the Gators have almost tripled their number of verbal commitments. Prior to spring football, McElwain and his coaches were mostly selling a vision for the future rather than a product on the field. But over the last few weeks, visiting prospects have been able to see McElwain’s plan in … Read More »

Trio of top-100 prospects visit Florida

Two of Florida’s top offensive targets and possibly the No. 1 overall pass rusher on the board visited UF on Friday. Haskins is scheduled to return for the spring game and Diggs also plans to be back in Gainesville. He is the younger brother of former five-star … Read More »

Florida gaining early momentum for 2016

by

One week into spring football, Florida is already gaining momentum on the recruiting trail. Over the last 10 days, UF has landed four verbal commitments and hosted more than 30 prospects on campus, including 10 Rivals250/Top247 members. The Gators now have seven pledges in their 2016 class, the same number Jim McElwain had for 2015 when he took over the program in December. A month and a half removed from signing day, McElwain and his staff have already assembled a top-15 class and … Read More »

More visitors on tap for Gators

by

After receiving two commitments last Saturday during their junior day event, more recruits are flocking to Gainesville to watch the Florida Gators practice. Niceville wide receiver and Rivals100 member Eli Stove visited UF on Thursday with his father, Langston Stove, who spoke highly of the trip to Rivals.com. More receivers plan to visit Friday, most notably Isaiah Johnson of West Palm Beach Dwyer. He attended junior day last weekend and then decommitted from Miami, naming Florida his top school.
