2017 LB James Houston commits to Gators at Friday Night Lights

Talent and potential were abundant at Florida’s Friday Night Lights, and UF’s 2017 class left with a highly recruited in-state prospect. Florida’s major recruiting showcase is in full effect today. The Gators open Friday Night Lights today, with registration beginning at 2 p.m. today in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Gators open Friday Night Lights with QB Camp, Sophomore Night

Florida kicked off Friday Night Lights with specialized camps for rising high school sophomores and signal callers looking to make it to the next level. UF’s Sophomore Night and “Next Level Quarterback Camp” took place Thursday afternoon at the indoor practice facility. Gators draw talent to Gainesville for Friday Night Lights

Florida’s biggest recruiting showcase of the year kicks off in Gainesville tonight at 5 p.m. with the “Next Level Quarterback Camp” and Sophomore Night. The QB Camp will run through Friday. Along with instruction from coach Jim McElwain and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier, the Gators have brought in nationally renowned quarterback coaches Lavelle Durant, Eric Kresser and George Whitfield. Florida’s season is inching closer while the Gators continue to build for the future. With 45 days until the commencement of the 2016 football season, Florida’s class has received verbal commitments from 10 prospects in the 2017 class. Most recently, four-star defensive end Zachary Carter and three-star linebacker Ventrell Miller each committed to the Gators on June 24. Gators become first program to offer 2018 FS Trey Dean

Gators offer scholarship at camp to rising 2018 OT William Barnes

Florida’s summer camp circuit began Friday night with a 7v7 tournament and an offensive/defensive linemen camp, and with more than 200 participants, UF’s coaching staff had an opportunity to evaluate multiple prospects with potential at the next level. William Barnes, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound offensive lineman in the 2018 class out of Apopka High, arrived in Gainesville for camp and left with a scholarship offer. Gators hosting 7 vs. 7 tournament, welcoming talented visitors

Before Florida’s staff hits the road for summer camp, the Gators will be hosting some of the top high schools from Florida and Georgia. UF’s summer camp tour begins Friday in Gainesville with a 7 vs. 7 tournament featuring 18 high schools, including Dunnellon High, Edgewater High, Hapeville Charter (Ga.), Lakeland High, Lincoln High, Tampa Tech, Southridge and Vanguard. Four-star CB Elijah Blades pushes back commitment date, sets visit with Gators

While four-star John Muir (Ca.) cornerback Elijah Blades had previously planned on committing on his birthday, June 12, that doesn’t appear to be the case anymore.  Blades said Thursday he doesn’t plan on committing until after his senior season. The Pasadena native said he expects more offers to roll in, giving him an opportunity to evaluate all of his options.   If things go his way, Kadarius Toney’s recruitment may have already reached its conclusion. Toney called Florida running backs coach Tim Skipper on Wednesday night, informing him of his decision to verbally commit to the Gators.
