Reidel Anthony training incoming Florida receiver

by

Alvin Bailey was a jack-of-all-trades for Seffner Armwood’s high school football team. He played every offensive skill position, defensive back and special teams. His triple dose of duties didn’t give him much time to prepare for what his primary position will be in college. But with the help of former UF and NFL receiver Reidel Anthony, Bailey has been dialed in this spring. “Wide receiver is all I’ve ever wanted to do,” said the Florida signee. “But being an athlete in high school, … Read More »

5-star LB compares Muschamp to Alabama’s Smart

by

In his latest diary with 247Sports, five-star linebacker Raekwon McMillan (Hinesville, Ga./Liberty County) went in-depth about the college coaches who are recruiting him personally. When he got to Florida’s Will Muschamp, the Under Armour All-American compared him to a coach from the defending national champs. But it wasn’t his old mentor, Nick Saban. “Two coaches I’ve talked to a lot are Coach Will Muschamp and Coach Kirby Smart,” McMillan wrote. ”I think Coach Muschamp would fit right in if he was on the Alabama coaching … Read More »

JUCO DL officially visiting Florida next month

by

UF is hoping to have similar results at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Ga. Florida defensive coordinator D.J. Notebook: Harris postpones decision

by

There’s been a change of plans for Winter Park defensive end Trenton Harris. For more than a month, he’s been scheduled to make his commitment at his spring game on May 24 and had Florida as his frontrunner. But an offer from Ohio State on Monday put a hold on that announcement. Harris grew up rooting for the Gators and is a big fan of Urban Meyer because of it. He wants to check out Columbus this summer to see what the … Read More »

UF still after Alabama RB commit

by

As tall as the task may be, Florida isn’t stopping its pursuit of Alabama commit Bo Scarbrough. On Tuesday, UF running backs coach Brian White stopped by Scarbrough’s school for the second time this spring. “After practice, he told me I look like a stallion,” Scarbrough said. “I told him I’m trying to be.” The 6-foot-2, 222-pounder, who is considered an athlete by most recruiting analysts, plays running back, receiver and special teams (including place kicker) for Northridge in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The Gators … Read More »

Durkin checks in on top 100 LB

by

Florida defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin spent his Tuesday afternoon in Ponte Verda evaluating linebacker Dillon Bates. His presence at practice gave the consensus four-star recruit some extra motivation. “I definitely wanted to perform well in front of him,” Bates said. “It was good to see him there and speak with him afterward. He told me about Florida’s scheme and how what they run is similar to what my high school does. So it was just good to talk to him about football and … Read More »

Florida will be a finalist for Westphal

by

For the Florida Gators to have a legitimate shot with Bolingbrook (Ill.) cornerback Parrker Westphal, they needed to get him on campus and blow him away. Mission accomplished. The four-star recruit visited UF over the weekend and enjoyed his stay. “It was great,” Westphal wrote in a text message to the Sun. “I loved the campus and how it’s set up. Everything necessary for an athlete is all around the same area on campus.” Florida’s chances have improved with Westphal following his first trip to Gainesville. … Read More »
