GATORS LIVE BLOG: National Signing Day

4:09 p.m.: The Gators received a late commitment during coach Jim McElwain’s press conference in JUCO cornerback Joseph Putu. He was expected to sign with Arkansas today, but after a late offer from Florida he decided to sign with UF. JUCO CB Joseph Putu is the latest addition to the #Gators' 2016 class, per @MistaAlderman – https://t.co/OT1Vr1sqgv pic.twitter.com/ZSm1SyG1Sb — Landon Watnick (@LandonWatnick) February 3, 2016 Just prior to Putu’s commitment, the Gators received notice from safety Antonio Nelson that he… Read More »

Graham’s Mail Haul 02/2

Well, it’s finally here  — National Signing Day is just a few hours away and the Gators are looking to finish with a top-10 recruiting class. It’s certainly been eventful up until this point. Coach Jim McElwain and his staff have already added 12 midyear enrollees and a transfer quarterback to the SEC East champion Gators. Make sure you tune in to ESPN beginning at 8 a.m. tomorrow, and follow me on Twitter.   Your questions! Are we in true… Read More »

Five-star linebacker eliminates Gators, cancels visit

Florida had hoped to convince five-star Carver (Ala.) outside linebacker Lyndell ‘Mack’ Wilson to sign with the Gators and spurn Alabama and Georgia. But now, it looks as if UF has no chance of signing Wilson. The 6-foot-1, 235-pounder posted a note to his Twitter on Thursday explaining he would no longer be visiting the Gators this weekend. He took the note down after several minutes and posted no explanation. An hour later he posted when he’ll announce where he… Read More »

Graham’s Mail Haul 01/26

It may seem as if Florida is losing momentum as National Signing Day approaches, but that isn’t the case at all. While the Gators likely will miss out on top targets in wide receiver Nate Craig-Myers and five-star linebacker Mack Wilson (more on him later), UF’s class has neared capacity for the past month. Last weekend was more of the same for the Gators – a strong impression left on official visitors, but a weekend without commitments. I’d expect this… Read More »

Eubanks unable to make official visit to Florida

Florida has been aggressively recruiting four-star American Heritage tight end Nick Eubanks – Gators coaches even attended his basketball game last week – throughout his recruitment. And with an official visit scheduled for this weekend, it looked as if UF could possibly get a commitment from Eubanks. But Eubanks never made it to Gainesville for his official visit, according to Josh Newberg of 247Sports.com. TE Nick Eubanks did not make UF visit… I might have to change my Crystal Ball… Read More »

Graham’s Mail Haul 01/19

The mailbag is back for its second edition, and it now has a name – Graham’s Mail Haul. Thank you all for your suggestions – I truly didn’t expect to receive the amount of responses I did. A big shout-out to @Dreddacus for being the lone wolf who suggested the name Mail Haul. The dead period ended Jan. 14, and Florida’s coaches hit the road to visit coveted prospects. Then over the weekend, the Gators hosted eight players for official… Read More »

Recruits post praise for Gators during official visits

If their social media accounts are any indication, the recruits visiting Florida this weekend left with a positive impression of the university and Gainesville. UF has a verbal commitment from three-star Mount Dora center Brett Heggie, and after Thursday’s visit from offensive line coach Mike Summers it looks like Heggie has the Gators at the top of his list. With four-star offensive linemen Landon Dickerson and John Simpson, along with a three- star tackle in UF verbal commit Jawaan Taylor,… Read More »

Graham’s Recruiting Mailbag 01/11

Florida lost out on Marcus Tatum, Feleipe Franks arrived in Gainesville for his first day of classes and the Gators hosted workouts today. In short, it was anything but a quiet Monday. Expect the next three weeks to be just as hectic as National Signing Day approaches on its typical first Wednesday in February. It may feel like the season just ended – I mean, the National Championship Game is taking place in a few hours – but recruiting never… Read More »

Gators miss out on Tatum, prepare to welcome four-star linemen

The Gators lost out on a highly coveted in-state prospect Monday. Three-star offensive tackle Marcus Tatum out of Mainland in Daytona Beach had recently narrowed his commitment list down to four teams – Alabama, Florida, Miami and Tennessee. On Monday, he posted a note on his Twitter of his commitment to compete in the SEC and play for the Volunteers. pic.twitter.com/cXhmfYN64I — Marcus Tatum (@AsapTatum) January 11, 2016 Although Tatum will sign with Tennessee barring a change of heart, the… Read More »

Clayton reaffirms commitment to UF

The Gators don’t have to worry about defensive end Antonneous Clayton flipping to another school before National Signing Day on Feb. 3. The four-star prospect out of Vienna (Ga.) Dooly County tweeted Monday he would essentially be shutting down his recruitment and would take an official visit to Florida on Jan. 22. I will only be taking one OV and that's to UF on January 22nd I'm a gator i wish today was February 3rd #GO GATORS — Godspeed (@antonneousc)… Read More »
