Muschamp: Recruits look at total body of work

by

Gator Nation is worried about the state of recruiting following Florida’s loss at Alabama last weekend. But UF coach Will Muschamp feels one game, whether it be a big win or disappointing defeat, doesn’t define a recruiting class. “I think guys look at the total body of work, how they’ve been recruited by a school. I think it goes a lot further than wins and losses,” he said. “Obviously, winning helps. I’m going to say that it doesn’t. But again, I think it’s … Read More »

Zach’s Mail Stack 9/25

Florida certainly dropped the ball at Alabama over the weekend, and that loss will have an impact in recruiting. How much? That’s to be determined. In speaking with several people involved with recruiting over the past few days, including a couple prospects, the general feeling is that UF didn’t live up to expectations. The Gators were in it until the end of the third quarter, but they way the lost — worst defensive showing in school history, inability to move the ball offensively, poor … Read More »

Commit of the week: LB Adonis Thomas

by

After a season-opening loss, linebacker Adonis Thomas has led Lawrenceville (Ga.) Central Gwinnett to three straight wins. The Black Knights defeated Snellville (Ga.) Shiloh 44-0 on Friday, their first shutout this year. Thomas and the Central Gwinnett defense gave up just 91 yards passing and suffocated the Generals on the ground, holding them to minus-30 rushing yards. The consensus four-star prospect recorded eight tackles (three for loss) and one sack in the game. He has 44 total tackles, three sacks, three quarterbacks hurries … Read More »

McDuffie sees opportunity with Gators

by

Florida’s triple overtime victory over Kentucky last weekend might have been uneasy for fans watching at home, but it was an exciting game from recruits in attendance. They saw The Swamp at its best, and the crowd made a big impression on cornerback Jeremy McDuffie. “It was a real live atmosphere,” he said. “The fans were great. Hearing all those chants and the pride that they had was real cool. It was a loud game.” The Gators gave up 369 yards passing against … Read More »

Imatorbhebhe enjoys official visit to Florida

by

Missouri tight end commitment Daniel Imatorbhebhe officially visited Florida last weekend for the Kentucky game. The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder from Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett loved the atmosphere in The Swamp before, during and after UF’s triple overtime win. “I just enjoyed being around the players and getting the real experience of what it’s like to play there. That was huge,” he said. “I went through all the pre-game stuff, and then I had a lot of fun watching it. “I actually felt like I was … Read More »

Zach’s Mail Stack 9/18

by

This Saturday’s game is what everyone around the Florida football program has been waiting on. Players, coaches, fans, media members and, of course, recruits. UF offensive tackle Chaz Green said the Alabama matchup is a measuring stick for his team, and prospects are going to view it that way as well. One game — win or lose — doesn’t define a recruiting class. Recruits should be and probably are putting more stock into the 2014 season as a whole. That being said, the Gators … Read More »

Commit of the week: ATH Derrick Dillon

by

Derrick Dillon is one of the most explosive athletes in the 2015 recruiting cycle and will play slot receiver for Florida. But at Franklinton (La.) Pine, most of Dillon’s offensive production is through the air and on the ground. In Friday’s 44-20 victory over Angie (La.) Varnado, Dillon accounted for 226 yards (125 passing, 101 rushing) and three touchdowns. The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder with 4.4 speed had a 52-yard scoring run and threw TD passes of 34 and 35 yards. His team scored on … Read More »

Florida will host a handful of big names in The Swamp tonight. Five-star defensive end CeCe Jefferson (Glen Saint Mary Baker County) is visiting for the third consecutive weekend, and Rivals100 athlete Tim Irvin (Miami Westminster Christian) returns to UF after attending Friday Night Lights. Irvin’s teammate, four-star running back Jordan Cronkrite, will make the trip to Gainesville, too. He decommitted from Miami this morning. Zach’s Mail Stack 9/11

by

Before we get into the Mail Stack, I hope everyone takes time to remember and reflect today. It’s been 13 years since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. My memory is terrible and I don’t recall a lot of my childhood, but that is a day I’ll never forget. All the lives lost. All the people affected. I still remember coming home from middle school and walking into my living room, where our babysitter was in tears on the couch watching the T.V. The teachers … Read More »

Commit of the week: ATH Jerome Baker

by

Jerome Baker has the skill set to become an All-SEC linebacker at Florida, but he does his damage in high school on the offensive side of the ball. The consensus top-100 recruit from Cleveland (Ohio) Benedictine for 1,540 yards and 26 touchdowns last year and led his team to the state championship game. Baker has continued his dominance as a senior. He rushed for 181 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries in Saturday’s 27-6 victory over Youngstown Ursuline. The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder also … Read More »
