Freshmen arrive, bunk up

by Edward Aschoff

Since Summer B starts today, I thought you would like to know who the incoming freshmen will be rooming with this summer. Mike Gillislee is supposed to room with Desmond Parks. Two really athletic guys with a lot of potential bunking together. Both came in with a little less hype than some of their classmates as well, but should contribute this summer. Urban Meyer is making sure that his future team leaders are getting off on the right foot. He’s got Andre … Read More »

Ask Aschoff 6/24

by Edward Aschoff

It’s the third installment of the Mailbag and we finally have a name! After much consideration, I’ve decided to go with “Ask Aschoff.” Congrats to Brandon who posted the name on my last mailbag. Props. Jeff Barlis was close with “Ask Your Aschoff,” and of course I loved “The Fresh Cut” by kryptonitecollar. I figured you called it that because of my fresh haircut. On the to questions! So from what I’ve seen so far, this is shaping out to be one of … Read More »

Mailbag 6/17

by admin

Lots of questions this week, but still no catchy name. No worries, let the questions be answered! I see where the number one prospect by some recruit sites, Seantrel Henderson, is possibly interested in the Gators. Are we going after him hard, and if we are, do we have a legitimate shot at getting him to Gainesville?- gator1law The last time I talked to him, Henderson made it clear that while he’s interested in Florida’s program, UF’s coaches haven’t been pursuing him … Read More »

Elite Quarterback Camp underway

by admin

As predicted, the talent really poured into Gainesville for the Elite Quarterback Camp and the second individual camp. Most of the practice centered on one-on-drills and unlike last week, each battle was equally exciting. Last week it was Florida commit Jonathan Dowling who impressed by not only dominating each receiver he faced while lining up at corner, he … Read More »

Debuting the Recruiting Mailbag

by admin

Welcome to the first installment of my recruiting mailbag (Note: if anyone can think of a better name for my mailbag, please let me know). You can submit your questions in the Recruiting Forum on the Gatorsports.com Message Boards (a k a, the GSMB). Not many questions this week, but here we go … According to Gatorbait, William Gholston is going to be camping @ UF this summer. I realize that just b/c a prospect is camping here doesn’t mean that … Read More »

Dowling stands out in UF camp

by admin

The 2009 Urban Meyer Football Camp officially got underway Sunday, but Monday was the first full day of action for the Elite Lineman Camp and the first Individual Camp. Monday’s afternoon and morning secessions didn’t have much elite talent, but there was some entertaining competition to watch. The biggest names on campus were current Florida commit Jonathan Dowling … Read More »

Richard Ash loves being recruited

by admin

You gotta love Richard Ash’s honesty. The Pahokee defensive tackle is definitely playing the recruiting game. I caught up with the 6-foot-4, 263-pound lineman, whom Gator fans have been raving about for months, and it seems as though he loves the recruiting process. Ash, who looks like a man-child on his video, said he grew up a Florida … Read More »

June boon – time to go camping

by admin

It’s June, and while that means it’s a slow time for college football, June is one of the hottest months for recruiting. There might not be a lot of public commitments, but this is the time of year when prospects and coaches really start to get acquainted with each other. It’s the time for summer camps. Hundreds of athletes of all ages will be traveling all across the country to learn from some of the best coaches in the game and to try and impress enough to maybe … Read More »
