Imatorbhebhe enjoys official visit to Florida

by

Missouri tight end commitment Daniel Imatorbhebhe officially visited Florida last weekend for the Kentucky game. The 6-foot-4, 220-pounder from Suwanee (Ga.) North Gwinnett loved the atmosphere in The Swamp before, during and after UF’s triple overtime win. “I just enjoyed being around the players and getting the real experience of what it’s like to play there. That was huge,” he said. “I went through all the pre-game stuff, and then I had a lot of fun watching it. “I actually felt like I was … Read More »

Zach’s Mail Stack 9/18

by

This Saturday’s game is what everyone around the Florida football program has been waiting on. Players, coaches, fans, media members and, of course, recruits. UF offensive tackle Chaz Green said the Alabama matchup is a measuring stick for his team, and prospects are going to view it that way as well. One game — win or lose — doesn’t define a recruiting class. Recruits should be and probably are putting more stock into the 2014 season as a whole. That being said, the Gators … Read More »

Commit of the week: ATH Derrick Dillon

by

Derrick Dillon is one of the most explosive athletes in the 2015 recruiting cycle and will play slot receiver for Florida. But at Franklinton (La.) Pine, most of Dillon’s offensive production is through the air and on the ground. In Friday’s 44-20 victory over Angie (La.) Varnado, Dillon accounted for 226 yards (125 passing, 101 rushing) and three touchdowns. The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder with 4.4 speed had a 52-yard scoring run and threw TD passes of 34 and 35 yards. His team scored on … Read More »

UF hosting recruits committed elsewhere for UK

by

Florida will host a handful of big names in The Swamp tonight. Five-star defensive end CeCe Jefferson (Glen Saint Mary Baker County) is visiting for the third consecutive weekend, and Rivals100 athlete Tim Irvin (Miami Westminster Christian) returns to UF after attending Friday Night Lights. Irvin’s teammate, four-star running back Jordan Cronkrite, will make the trip to Gainesville, too. He decommitted from Miami this morning. Hurricanes RB commit Dexter Williams (Winter Garden West Orange) is scheduled to be at the game as well as Clemson … Read More »

Zach’s Mail Stack 9/11

by

Before we get into the Mail Stack, I hope everyone takes time to remember and reflect today. It’s been 13 years since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. My memory is terrible and I don’t recall a lot of my childhood, but that is a day I’ll never forget. All the lives lost. All the people affected. I still remember coming home from middle school and walking into my living room, where our babysitter was in tears on the couch watching the T.V. The teachers … Read More »

Commit of the week: ATH Jerome Baker

by

Jerome Baker has the skill set to become an All-SEC linebacker at Florida, but he does his damage in high school on the offensive side of the ball. The consensus top-100 recruit from Cleveland (Ohio) Benedictine for 1,540 yards and 26 touchdowns last year and led his team to the state championship game. Baker has continued his dominance as a senior. He rushed for 181 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries in Saturday’s 27-6 victory over Youngstown Ursuline. The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder also … Read More »

Cowart feels Gators are headed in right direction

by

Five-star defensive end Byron Cowart offered good and bad news for Florida fans after Saturday’s season opener. Bad news first. He’s not committing to the Gators — or any team — this month, as he has pushed back decision date from Sept. 28 to the Under Armour All-America Game in January. “I just want to wait,” said Cowart, who was expected to pick UF. “It’s (about) stability. I need to see who is going to be here (at Florida) and who’s not. Coach (Will) … Read More »

Zach’s Mail Stack 9/4

by

Florida’s season opener against Idaho didn’t happen due to weather, but the stars were still out in The Swamp on Saturday night. The Gators hosted three visitors who are rated five-star prospects — running back Jacques Patrick and defensive ends Byron Cowart and CeCe Jefferson — as well as a handful of other targets and commits (see here). Attendance like that for the first game was a great sign for UF. Last year’s 4-8 record hasn’t discouraged kids from coming to Gainesville, and … Read More »

Commit of the week: QB Sheriron Jones

by

There’s another Florida quarterback commitment for UF fans to follow this fall. Will Grier garnered the attention of Gator Nation last year, throwing for 4,989 yards as a high school senior and leading Davidson (N.C.) Day to its third consecutive state title. The spotlight this season could belong to Sheriron Jones, an Elite 11 finalist who pledged to the Gators in June after camping at Florida. He is Florida’s first commitment from California since Ronald Powell in 2010 and attends the same high … Read More »

Weather delay doesn’t damper Jefferson’s UF trip

by

CeCe Jefferson has visited Florida more than a half dozen times since the spring, so there isn’t much in Gainesville he hasn’t seen. “I know this place like the back of my hand,” Jefferson said. “I’m here for almost every game.” However, Saturday’s season opener against Idaho offered a new experience for him. The game had almost a three-hour weather delay before being suspended due to unsafe field conditions. “I’ve never seen a game canceled. That was a first,” he said. “I was … Read More »
